What do The Great Gatsby, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey all have in common? Jennifer Loesch ’09 helped promote them worldwide.
The honors psychology and economics student entered the entertainment industry with a marketing internship in 2008 and has worked at Warner Bros. since 2010. As the executive assistant to the vice president of Worldwide Promotions, she works with a tight-knit team to develop brand partnerships for films. For The Dark Knight Rises, they teamed with Nokia to create an exclusive app; for The Great Gatsby, partners included Tiffany & Co., Brooks Brothers, and The Plaza Hotel. A partnership with Air New Zealand for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey resulted in a hobbit-themed safety video that has more than 10 million views on YouTube.
“My Scripps education and experiences were invaluable in preparing me for this job,” she says. “I worked in the College’s public relations office, which gave me the experience I needed to secure my internship the summer of my junior year, which in turn paved the way to my current position.
“Scripps’ Core and writing programs, my off-campus study in London, and double major gave me the global and interdisciplinary perspective that taught me how to think critically, communicate my thoughts, and be adaptable.
“Working at Warner Bros. has been a great experience, and I look forward to seeing where my path takes me.”
